Second album news!

Listen to Flo being interviewed at Isle of Wight Festival this summer. She talks about her plans for getting back in the studio this month.

Speaking to Newsbeat, Welch said: There’s a song called Spectrum which has a lot to do with rainbows and prisms – so it has taken on a lot more of a crystal theme

“I did a song inspired by these two atomic particles called strangeness and charm, now everyone thinks I’m going to do an album about the periodic table – which I’m not.”

She added: “But that would be a good concept album though. You could go into schools and get people back into science.”

‘More chemical’
Lungs spent 28 consecutive weeks in the UK album chart before finally reaching number one in January 2010.

The south London singer explained that the album will see a change in her lyrical themes.

The atmosphere is quite tough but the lyrics are moving away from gothic horror toward something that’s slightly more chemical.”

It’s ages away from finished yet though.”

‘Heavy in You Arms’ and album re-issue

posted by Poisoned Apathy on September 24, 2010 under Florence, News, Releases with 0 comments

On November 15th Florence & The Machine will release the single ‘Heavy In Your Arms’.

The track is a highlight of both this year’s festival season the third installment of the ‘Twilight: Eclipse’ film.

Here’s what Florence has to say:

Heavy In Your Arms I suppose is about the weight of love, and how sometimes it can be a burden between two people. I felt this was a strong theme in the Twilight series, is someone being rescued or are they being condemned? And is the love you carry bringing you down.

“I recorded it with Paul (Epworth) one evening, using a lot of strange reversed vocal samples and big hip hop piano. It’s basically inspired by 90′s hip hop, and gospel choirs, like most of my songs.”

‘Heavy In Your Arms’ will also feature on ‘Between Two Lungs’, a special two-disc edition of Flo’s award-winning ‘Lungs’ debut.

Also released on November 15, ‘Between Two Lungs’ will feature new sleeve art, sleeve notes by Florence and a ten track second disc packed with exclusive live versions and remixes, including Flo’s massive Brit Awards collaboration with Dizzee Rascal ‘You Got The Dirtee Love’.

That Disc 2 tracklisting in full:

1.Heavy In Your Arms

2.You’ve Got The Dirtee Love

3.Hurricane Drunk (The Horrors Remix)

4.Strangeness & Charm (Live from Hammersmith Apollo)

5.Swimming (Live From Hammersmith Apollo)

6.Dog Days Are Over (Yeasayer Remix)

Florence & The Machine perform acoustically. Live from The Roundhouse:

8.Girl With One Eye

9.Hurricane Drunk

10.Dog Days Are Over

11.My Boy Builds Coffins

12.Hospital Beds

And good news from the US this week, where ‘Lungs’ is number 14 in the Billboard Chart.
