Happy Birthday Florence!!

posted by Poisoned Apathy on August 25, 2010 under Florence, News, Reviews, Tour with 3 comments

Flo celebrated her 24th birthday last night at Ibiza Rocks!!

Here’s the review of the show taken from her official Facebook:

It was a birthday party to remember for Florence at Ibiza Rocks last night as she performed one the most spectacular live shows the White Isle has ever seen.

Florence cut a stunning figure as she took to the stage, sparkling in an amazing blue sequined gown with added white wings while the crowd welcomed her with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.

The set was opened with fan favourite ‘Howl’ before the heaving crowd were treated to much of Florence’s debut album ‘Lungs’, including ‘Drumming Song’, ‘Cosmic Love’ and ‘I’m Not Calling You A Liar’.

Flo then dedicated her anthemic cover of Candi Staton’s classic ‘You’ve Got The Love’ to her adoring audience who sang along before being treated to new track’Strangeness’.

The set was closed by the epic ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)’ only for Florence and the band to re-appear moments later to end the night on a high with the equally glorious ‘Dog Days Are Over’.

What a night it was – Happy Birthday Florence!?

Lots of things have happened during the last few weeks, as our dear Flo travelled the UK and Europe during the festival season.

First off, last July 14th, she played a very intimate acoustic show as a part of the iTunes Festival in London.

Backed up by just two musicians, the show was streamed live on MySpace and iTunes.

You can see pictures of her performance here and also pre-order a very special digital only release of a 6-track EP including tracks performed live at the show.

Also, a full North American tour has been announced for this fall.
The first dates confirmed are the following:

30th October – Voodoo Music Experience, New Orleans
1st November – Terminal 5, New York City
2nd November – Terminal 5, New York City
3rd November – The Sound Academy, Toronto
6th November – The Wiltern, Los Angeles

Her official website has announced that there will be more dates, so stay tuned!!!

And, last but not least, you can take a look at Flo’s latest blog in which she talks about her recent experiences at this summer’s festivals.
